What is the HECVAT?

The Higher Education Community Vendor Assessment Tool (HECVAT) was developed through a collaboration between EDUCAUSE, Internet2, REN-ISAC, and volunteers from colleges and universities. This toolkit assists higher education institutions in evaluating vendors and technology solutions, ensuring that they make secure and wise decisions. It also enables companies to demonstrate their reliability and security, thereby streamlining procurement processes with higher education clients. The HECVAT offers a comprehensive view of vendor cybersecurity, privacy, and compliance standards, eliminating the need for extensive searches across multiple websites. For industry leaders, it provides an opportunity to showcase cybersecurity expertise and compliance credentials that meet the specific needs of higher education.
